Changes to Funding Central

In 2016 we made changes to Funding Central to replace our funding from the Cabinet Office.

NCVO recognises the vital importance of Funding Central in helping the voluntary sector secure much needed funding and are committed to carry on delivering the site.

To keep Funding Central sustainable whilst keeping it accessible for the voluntary sector we introduced an annual subscription to replace the Cabinet Office funding.

Funding Central is free for smaller organisations and provides low cost access to larger organisations and individual users.

Why we are making these changes

Funding Central is unique, providing access to information on thousands of grants, contracts and loan finance opportunities from local, national and EU funding sources all in one place.

NCVO developed Funding Central to help support charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises to secure funding for their work and explore sustainable income strategies.

For seven years NCVO delivered Funding Central under contract to the Cabinet Office; the Cabinet Office ended their funding of Funding Central on 31 March 2016.

NCVO recognise the vital importance of Funding Central to the voluntary sector and are committed to continuing it. To keep Funding Central running we needed to replace the Cabinet Office funding.

We are proud of Funding Central's success

  • Since 2009 nearly 100,000 users have registered
  • Carrying out hundreds of thousands of completed funding searches
  • Our weekly funding update emails have been opened nearly 8 million times
  • Our users tell us we save them on average three hours of work a week
  • Our users told us in our recent survey they secured on average around £18,000 from funds found through Funding Central last year.

The move to subscription

In early 2016 we developed a new subscription based business model to keep Funding Central sustainable whilst keeping it accessible to as many organisations as possible.

Funding Central provides free access to smaller organisations and low cost access to larger organisations and individual users.

What does this mean for me?

From 15 June 2016 to use Funding Central you will need to subscribe. Subscription will enable users to

  • Search our database of thousands of funding opportunities
  • Receive personalised weekly funding updates, news and deadlines
  • Access practical guides and online tools to support your funding strategy
  • Find funding news, events and training.

To use Funding Central you need to subscribe

Free for organisations with an annual income under £100,000

£100+VAT for organisations with an annual income over £100,000

All organisational subscriptions includes unlimited logins - allowing anyone from your organisation to create accounts to use Funding Central.

I don’t belong to an organisation

£50 plus VAT for individual users not directly connected with an organisation - such as a freelancer or consultant.

Funding Central only lists funding for voluntary and community organisations registered in England, we do not list funding for individuals.

How will you use subscription fees?

The money raised from subscriptions directly funds the ongoing delivery of Funding Central to ensure we maintain the high quality of data and website functionality. This includes the running and maintenance of the site, the research, collection, and presentation of funding information.
