Our impact

We regularly review and evaluate how Funding Central is working and how we're benefiting the voluntary sector.

In June 2016, after our funding from the Cabinet Office ended, we began our journey to diversify our income and become sustainable.  We want to share how we got on and what our users think of Funding Central.

Our year - subscription success

In our first year of subscriptions nearly 15,000 organisations subscribed - both paid and free.

  • That’s around 19,000 users
  • Using our funding search over 100,000 times
  • And our weekly funding newsletter emails has been been opened nearly 800,000 times.  That’s around 15,000 times every week.

Our users say we save them time searching for funds

Respondents in our latest user survey said:

  • On average we saved them over four hours each week
  • Over 2/3 said they applied for funding found through Funding Central
  • Of those 64% said this funding helped their organisation become more sustainable.

User quote 'it thinks like we do'

Funding secured

"Funding Central helped us find funding from The Ernest Cook Trust, The Philip Bates Trust and the Skinners’ Company Lady Neville Charity. Along with funding from Coventry City Council we received £5090 in grants. I think that the fact that we fundraised helped us be more aware of needs and helped us change our way of thinking. "

Katherine Owen, Heart of England Co-operative Concert Orchestra

More from Katherine

"We’ve been successful with five applications, unsuccessful in about the same number, but we’ve learnt about upcoming opportunities, got a sense for the landscape and an understanding of the needs of local organisations and priorities of grants and foundations."

Katy Atkinson, The Reporters' Academy

More from Katy

"I use Funding Central to alert me to funders that I may have never heard of and then to look at their funding guidelines. It is really useful to have the links to websites and funding applications all in one place and makes my job easier, which is partially trying to raise funds for the charity that I work for. The weekly newsletter is a great reminder of deadlines for specific funders.

Last year we have found funding through Funding Central from five different funders, raising a total of £16,500. This funding has been core to the services that we provide. It has helped us to work with more young people, in different geographical locations across the UK, as well as to continue to employ an ex-offender to help with our work.

I have found much greater success by thoroughly researching the potential funder in terms of their guidelines, amounts granted, deadlines and also looking at their accounts on the Charity Commission website."
